Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how The Trucking Code collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal information when you use our website and services.
1. Our approach to privacy
The Trucking Code aims to collect only the personal information reasonably needed to operate the website, provide requested services, communicate with visitors, process payments, manage newsletter subscriptions, maintain security, and understand website performance where analytics consent has been provided.
We aim to manage personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) where applicable and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where applicable.
2. Personal information we may collect
The types of information we collect depend on how you interact with the website.
Contact requests
When you contact us, we may collect information such as your name, email address, phone number if requested, the contents of your message, and other information you choose to provide.
Consultation bookings
When you request or book a consultation, we may collect your name, email address, contact information, selected appointment time, information about the topic you would like to discuss, and information needed to administer the booking.
Service enquiries and referrals
When you submit a service enquiry, we may collect your contact details, location, selected service, service-specific answers, and other information you provide so we can review the request and, where appropriate, connect or refer you to a suitable professional or service provider.
Partnership enquiries
When you contact us about a potential partnership, we may collect your contact details, business or organization information, website, services or expertise, and proposal details.
Community messages
When you send a community message, we collect your email address, submission type, and message so our team can review it and respond where appropriate. Submissions are private to our team and are not published automatically.
Newsletter subscriptions
If you subscribe to our newsletter or other email communications, we may collect your email address and records relating to your consent, subscription status, and unsubscribe status.
Payments
Payments for consultations, resume services, or voluntary support may be processed through Stripe. Stripe processes payment card information under its own privacy and security practices.
We may receive and retain limited payment-related information such as payment status, transaction or session identifiers, amount, currency, and information necessary to associate the payment with the relevant booking or transaction.
Professional resume service
If you purchase the Professional Resume Service, we may collect payment status information and the resume intake information you submit, such as contact details, licence class, training, employment history, skills, certifications, and job target.
We use this information to prepare your resume and communicate about your order through your selected email or WhatsApp contact method. Please do not include government identification numbers, banking credentials, or other information not needed for your resume.
Security and privacy preferences
To protect forms against spam and abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile to verify submissions. This involves processing a verification token and technical request information, which may include an IP address. We also store limited security records, such as hashed request identifiers and browser information, and records of your cookie choices and the policy version shown. These security and preference functions operate independently of optional analytics consent.
Website and analytics information
Where analytics consent has been provided, we may collect information about how visitors interact with the website, such as pages viewed, navigation activity, device or browser information, and similar website-performance information through approved analytics services.
3. Why we collect and use personal information
We may use personal information for purposes including:
- Responding to contact requests and questions.
- Reviewing community messages and responding where appropriate.
- Processing and administering consultation requests and bookings.
- Reviewing service enquiries and, where appropriate, sharing relevant enquiry details with an appropriate service provider for the purpose of responding to the request.
- Reviewing partnership enquiries and communicating about potential collaboration.
- Confirming payments, preparing resume service orders, and resolving payment, booking, or order issues.
- Sending requested newsletters or other communications where appropriate consent has been provided.
- Maintaining records of newsletter consent and unsubscribe requests.
- Operating, maintaining, securing, and troubleshooting the website.
- Understanding website performance where analytics consent has been granted.
- Preventing fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful use.
- Meeting applicable legal, regulatory, accounting, or record-keeping obligations.
4. Consent
Where consent is required, we aim to explain the purpose for collecting, using, or disclosing personal information at or before the time the information is collected.
Certain optional activities, such as analytics or marketing communications, may require separate consent.
You may withdraw consent to optional uses of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
5. Newsletter and email communications
We may send newsletters, educational updates, or other commercial electronic messages only where permitted by applicable law.
Newsletter signup requires a separate consent choice and email confirmation. We maintain consent, confirmation, and unsubscribe records. Sending a contact, service, partnership, or resume request does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link. You may unsubscribe at any time using that link. A new signup requires email confirmation before newsletter delivery can resume. Messages needed to administer a requested service or payment are separate from newsletter subscriptions.
6. Service providers
We may use third-party service providers to operate parts of the website and deliver our services.
Depending on the features you use, these providers may include:
- Supabase for database, authentication, or website data storage.
- Stripe for payment processing.
- Resend for email delivery.
- Vercel for website hosting and delivery where used.
- Cloudflare for services including Turnstile form verification, and DNS, website security, traffic protection, or content delivery where enabled.
- Google Analytics and PostHog for analytics where enabled and where the visitor has provided the required consent.
- Google for the Google Calendar integration used to create and manage consultation calendar events and associated Google Meet conferencing details where the integration has been authorized.
Separately from these website technology providers, The Trucking Code may share relevant service enquiry information with an appropriate third-party service provider when necessary to respond to your request. The enquiry consent covers reviewing and responding to that request; it does not authorize unrelated marketing by the provider.
These providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices and may process information outside your province or country, depending on their infrastructure and service configuration.
7. Google API Services and Google user data
The Trucking Code may allow an authorized administrator to connect a Google account to the website for Google Calendar functionality. The application requests access only to the Google Calendar permission necessary to create and manage consultation calendar events.
How Google user data is accessed and used
When Google Calendar is connected, The Trucking Code uses the authorized Google Calendar access to create and manage calendar events associated with confirmed consultation bookings and to generate or attach Google Meet conferencing information where required for the consultation.
Google user data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide and maintain this user-facing Calendar and consultation functionality. We do not use Google Calendar access to read Gmail messages, Google Drive files, Google Contacts, or other unrelated Google account data.
Information we may store
We may store Google OAuth authorization tokens, Google Calendar connection information, calendar event identifiers, and related technical information that is reasonably necessary to maintain the authorized Calendar integration, prevent duplicate events, and support consultation scheduling.
Google OAuth credentials and tokens are not made available to website visitors or consultation customers and are used only by authorized server-side systems for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Sharing and disclosure of Google user data
We do not sell, rent, or disclose Google user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, information resellers, or other third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Google user data may be processed by service providers that are necessary to operate The Trucking Code, including infrastructure and database providers such as Vercel and Supabase, solely to provide, secure, maintain, or support the functionality described in this Privacy Policy.
Calendar event information created as part of a confirmed consultation may also be made available to the relevant consultation attendee where necessary to provide the requested booking, calendar invitation, and Google Meet functionality.
We may also disclose information where required by applicable law or where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
Limited Use
The Trucking Code's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google user data is not used to serve advertisements, determine creditworthiness, or train or improve generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Revoking Google Calendar access
An authorized administrator may disconnect the Google Calendar integration where that functionality is provided. Access may also be revoked through the connected Google account's security and permissions settings.
8. Third-party links and platforms
The website may contain links to services such as WhatsApp, YouTube, social media platforms, government websites, or other external resources.
When you leave The Trucking Code and interact with a third-party service, that provider's privacy policy and practices apply. We do not control the privacy practices of external websites or platforms.
Video pages offer a YouTube player that loads when you choose to load the video. Loading it connects your browser to YouTube, which may process technical information under its own privacy practices. Video thumbnails may also be requested from YouTube image services.
9. Cookies and analytics
The website may use necessary browser storage or similar technologies to support essential website functionality, including remembering privacy or cookie preferences.
Optional analytics technologies are intended to remain disabled until the visitor provides the required consent.
More information about these technologies is available in ourCookie Policy.
10. Data retention
We aim to retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to provide requested services, resolve disputes, maintain appropriate business records, and satisfy applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on their purpose and applicable obligations. Information that is no longer reasonably required may be deleted, anonymized, or securely disposed of where appropriate.
11. Safeguarding personal information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, or loss.
No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and therefore absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
12. Access and correction
Subject to applicable law, you may contact us to ask whether we hold personal information about you and to request access to or correction of that information.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a privacy request.
13. Deletion and withdrawal requests
You may contact us to request deletion of personal information or withdrawal of consent where applicable.
Some information may need to be retained where required or permitted by law, for legitimate record-keeping purposes, to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or establish or defend legal claims.
14. Privacy questions and complaints
Questions, requests, or concerns about how The Trucking Code handles personal information should first be directed to us at truckingcode@outlook.com.
We will make reasonable efforts to review and respond to privacy concerns in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, services, technology, service providers, or privacy practices change.
The current version will be published on this page.
